FORGIVENESS - OUR GREATEST NEED:
"Forgiveness" is one of the most beautiful words in our language and whether we realize it or not, the greatest need of our lives. God's forgiveness is the one true hope for the complete removal of our flaws (sin). The Bible refers to it as a rescue. God has given an incredible promise: if we come to Him in faith (believing and trusting in Him), He will rescue us and forgive all our sins.5 His forgiveness is offered as a free gift.6
FORGIVENESS THROUGH JESUS' DEATH:
To be rescued and forgiven comes only through Jesus. Because He loved us, two thousand years ago God "became human (Jesus) and made His home among us."7 He experienced pain, sadness, and joy just as we do. However, He was the only person to live a perfect life. He then suffered and died on a cross on our behalf. But why? "For Christ died for our sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God."8 Three days after He died, He came back to life (resurrection) and is alive today. The red symbolizes the blood He shed for our forgiveness.
